Service Overview
Pool and spa permit packages cover the full documentation required by building, engineering, and public health departments for new pool and spa construction. We produce site plans, barrier compliance drawings, structural documentation coordination, and all supplemental forms required by the applicable jurisdiction. Our packages are built to the specific submission requirements of California DSA, local building departments, and county health departments where applicable.

How It Works
From scope to submission.
Site Conditions Review
We review the property survey, existing site plan, and any available geotechnical data to establish the pool location, setbacks, and drainage conditions relevant to the permit.
Pool Layout and Site Plan
A permit-ready site plan is drawn showing the pool shell dimensions, water surface area, setbacks from property lines and structures, decking, equipment location, and utility connections.
Barrier Compliance Drawing
California and most jurisdictions require a pool barrier drawing showing the entire perimeter, gate locations, latch hardware specifications, and compliance with applicable barrier code requirements.
Package Assembly
All drawings and supplemental forms (health department applications, energy compliance forms, and structural notes) are assembled into a jurisdiction-specific submission package.

Why It Matters
Pool permits are reviewed by multiple departments with overlapping requirements. A package that satisfies building code but misses health department or barrier compliance requirements results in a hold at a different counter. We build the package to clear all applicable reviews from one submission.
Typical review triggers
- Pool barrier and fencing requirements not documented
- Setback and easement encroachments not addressed
- Electrical and bonding sheets missing from package
- Drainage and grading plan absent or incomplete
- Structural engineering not coordinated with civil
Common Questions
Frequently asked.
Have a question not listed here? Contact us directly and we will answer before you submit an inquiry.
- Do you handle both building and health department submissions?
- Yes. We prepare documentation for both. Building department packages cover structural, site, and barrier compliance. Health department packages cover water quality, equipment, and circulation requirements for jurisdictions that review these separately.
- Is barrier compliance always required?
- Yes, in virtually all jurisdictions with residential pools. California Health and Safety Code Section 115922 requires a compliant barrier for all pools and spas. The specific requirements vary by construction date and pool type, which we verify at intake.
- Can you coordinate with the structural engineer for the shell?
- Yes. Our structural coordination service handles the integration of the engineer's shell drawings into the permit set. We manage the coordination so the submission is a single package.
